Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! We have a group chat on Telegram as well as a twitter and instagram. It is heavily recommended that you join the Telegram group chat if you are planning on attending camp, as this will be your best source of information. There, you can talk to fellow attendees, share and view camp photos, get the latest news about camp, and ask questions! The link to the Telegram, twitter, and instagram are under the 'About the Camp' tab.
FCM stands for FurCamp Michigan! You may also see the name abbreviated as FurCampMI.
The campsite is three shared group campsites, all right besides each other to create one massive camping area! The camping area is incredibly large and it allows people to pitch their tents wherever they would like. The group campsites are about a 3-5 minute walk from the shore of Lake Michigan and the Nordhouse Dunes! The campground is heavily forested and away from any cities or towns. It's a true immersion in nature.
At night, you can enjoy the beautiful night skies. If the sky is clear, the milky way may even be visible by eye! Keep an eye out for shooting stars, they are a common occurence here!
Staff will be providing firewood, drinking water, cooking skewers, plates, eating utensils, napkins, wet wipes, cups, and trash/recycling bags. The amenities the campground will have is a bathroom, picnicking area, playground, amphitheater, potable water, and a beach.
There is no electricity at this campsite, and cell service is extremely limited.
If you are looking for showers, the nearest showers are at the Fat Catz General Store, about a 15 minute drive from the campground. There is a fee to use them.

Sorry, but we are kind of in the middle of nowhere! There's a small store 15 minutes away, Fat Catz General Store, which has some snacks, drinks, hot foods, ice cream, some camping essentials, and pay-to-use showers. The nearest grocery store will be Family Fare in Manistee, which is a 25 minute drive. The next closest grocery stores will be Meijer in Manistee or Ludington, both of which are a ~30 minute drive. It is best to stock up before arriving.
There will be a check in area! It will be located just inside the middle campsite. Please visit there and complete your check in before you set up your tent. After you check in, you are free to enjoy the furcamp however you please.
Sponsors will receive their merch when they check in at the check in table.
Yes, all attendees must be registered to attend. There are day passes for those who do not intend on staying overnight.
Registration gives you a con badge and a lanyard, as well as complete access to FurCamp Michigan, the campground, and it's amenities. If you regsiter as a sponsor, you will also receive an exclusive sponsor merchandise package.
No, FurCamp Michigan is a strictly Safe for Work event. NSFW gear and events will not be tolerated. Pup hoods are allowed.
Registration opens around the beginning of each year, and closes when we either reach capacity or on the Monday before camp begins.

(Note: If you do not see any dates, that means we're working on setting everything up! We ask for your patience, as we are a small crew of people working to line things up. Check Telegram, or check back in a little while!)
Yes! Nobody is expected to stay for the entire duration of the camp. You have the option to stay one, two, or all three nights. There is also a day visitor option.
In accordance with the campground check-in and check-out times, the earliest time attendees may arrive is Thursday at 4 pm. And all attendees must leave by 11 am on Sunday. Otherwise, you are free to arrive or leave whenever you would like!
YES! Registration is per person.
We have three group campsites that you may pitch your tent in. You may choose any campsite to nest in, but keep in mind the middle campsite is the main communal campsite, aka the "loud" campsite. The campsites on the left and right of it are the "quiet" campsites.
If you like to stay up late, be close to all the action, or don't mind some extra noise, we recommend setting up in the middle campsite.
If you have an earlier bedtime, or prefer a quieter environment, we recommend setting up in the left or right campsites.
If you would like to borrow a rake to move leaves for your tent, please ask a member of staff. We will have one rake on hand for attendees to take turns sharing.
Campers and RVs are not allowed. There are no dump stations, water fill stations, electricity hookups, or areas big enough to fit a camper or RV.
Yes, there is a map of the camp! Please see 'Location' under the 'Information' tab to view it. It is recommend to download the image since there is no cell service at the campground.
Yes, carts are provided.
No, food is not provided. However, we will be providing plates, bowls, eating utensils, cups, napkins, and wet wipes!
Please bring a cooler to store all cold foods in. At night time, make sure all food is put away.
Food will be cooked over fires, just like in previous years! You are free to bring whatever tools you would like to aid in cooking. There are several campfire rings distributed around the property. Gas stoves are allowed.
Yes. Each attendee is responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. This event is held on federal land. This means that illegal substances are strictly prohibited.
Alcohol is permitted only for those 21 years of age and older. Providing alcohol to minors is against the law. All attendees must follow the campground's regulations regarding the consumption and disposal of alcohol and containers.
Attendees must respect other campers, staff, and the environment, including wildlife. Disruptive or harmful conduct towards others or nature will not be tolerated.
Each attendee is responsible for their own actions and safety. Staff will contact emergency services if needed. All related costs and consequences are the attendee’s responsibility. Staff may remove anyone who violates these policies.
By attending, you agree that FCM Events LLC is not liable for injuries, damages, or legal fines resulting from your actions, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Yes, dogs are allowed! There are no breed or size restrictions. We only ask that you keep your dog on a leash when outside your tent.
The short answer, no. Please look at 'Rules and Regulations' under 'Information' for more information.
No, there is no electricity.
There is almost no cell service at the campsite. Occasionally, you may get a small signal and receieve some notifications, but that is the extent of it. If you need to get service, you will get a couple bars on the beach. You will also get service if you drive about five minutes up the road.
Yes, the quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. The party doesn't have to stop, but please turn down music and keep your voices down. If you would like to be louder, you may move to the beach, picnic area, or amphitheater.
The night skies at our location are absolutely beautiful! The milky way may even be visible by eye on dark, clear nights. Telescopes are permitted.
We are a not-for-profit event. We donate all of our profits to the to the Skegemog Raptor Sanctuary. You can learn more about this charity under the 'Information' tab!
You may bring up your issue with a member of staff. Staff can be identified by their olive green staff bandana, which all staff will be wearing on some part of their body or clothing. If needed, we have a member of staff who doubles as the security for the event. If the issue occurs when staff are asleep, you may let us know when we are awake. If it is extremely urgent, you may alert us at our tents.
At each campsite, there will be a large plastic box with a medical kit, fire blanket, and fire extinguisher. If there is an emergency, please call 911.
The middle/communal campsite will also have burn cream, which can be used for any kind of burn.
That's great! We are actively looking for people to host events, whether it be an informative panel, interactive panel, a game, or even a hike. If you click 'Programming' under 'Information,' you will see a button near the top of the screen. When we are accepting event submissions, this button will lead you to the submission form.
Yes, attendees are allowed to host parties at their tent area and on the beach. Please keep in mind the quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.! Parties that are too loud or break FurCamp Michigan's policies may be shut down.

Yes, FurCamp Michigan was previously under the name Northern Michigan FurCamp. This name was fitting at the time, as the furcamp originated in Traverse City, MI. However, our new location in Free Soil isn't north enough to truly be considered Northern Michigan, so we felt a new name was necessary.
